Civic Park or City Park is located in the centre of Timișoara, behind the Continental Hotel, and spreads out over an area of 76,000 m². Between 1730 and 1961, the Transylvania Casern used to function on this site, one of the biggest military caserns in Europe, located near the fortress of Timișoara. The purpose of demolishing it was to build a civic centre, a project which was abandoned, and Civic Park appeared instead. Between 1968 and 1971 the tallest building in Timișoara was built – Continental Hotel, as well as the avenue crossing the park; later, numerous trees were planted, that now offer a green oasis in the city centre, a place for transit and recreation. Civic Park also houses one of Timișoara's symbols - the floral clock, whose design is changed twice a year. Text and photo sources: https://www.pressalert.ro/; https://timisoara.eventya.eu/

Alpinet Park, previously called Arboretum, is certainly one of the most beautiful parks of Timișoara, located on the left bank of the Bega Canal, between Traian Bridge and Tinereții Bridge. Created by Mihai Demetrovici in 1924, upon a meeting of the Romanian horticulturalists, the park contains various alpine and subalpine species. The uneven land enabled the building of several terraces with stone walls, hence the name Alpinet, which was subsequently assigned to it. The waterfront alley offers a great view of the right bank of the Bega, covered with ornamental vegetation, with many resinous species, and the towers of the Metropolitan Cathedral in the background. Alpinet Park was refurbished at the same time with the waterfront of the Cathedral Park, the pyramidal poplars were then replaced with Magnolia kobus. Flora Restaurant is located in the middle of the park, close to the waterfront. Text and photo sources: http://www.timisoreni.ro/; https://timisoara.eventya.eu/

”Anton Scudier” Central Park is also part of the chain of parks aligned all along the Bega Canal, located in the vicinity of the Metropolitan Orthodox Cathedral. On the site of the present day park there once used to be a military cemetery, which was closed in 1770, and a century later the remains were moved into the cemetery from Calea Lipovei, by order of General Anton Scudier, who wanted a promenade built close to downtown. After its establishment, the park bore the name of the general, thus, up until the twentieth century it was called the Scudier Park. After the general's death, a statue was erected in the park, to honour his memory, statue which was later destroyed during the First World War. Currently, in the centre of the park there is a memorial raised in honour of the Romanian soldier, and one of the alleys was allotted for the carved busts of the town local celebrities. Some of the trees and shrubs that one can meet in Central Park include: the white fir tree, the Colorado fir, the silver fir, the spruce, the acacia, the chestnut, the elm, maple, juniper, magnolia, jasmine, Forsythis, buxus and salix.
