One of the most important spa resorts of national interest in Timiș County is Buziaș, which is recognized through the healing qualities of its carbonated water, mofettes and sedative bioclimate.
Another valuable resort for its thermal waters (thermal, chlorinated, sodium, bicarbonate, hypotonic and isothermal) is Băile Călacea, from Orţişoara commune.
Do not forget the thermal SPAs of Sânmihaiu German, Lovrin, Jimbolia or Deta, where tourists can spend pleasant and relaxing moments.
Buziaș is located in the Depression of Buziaș, on the lower course of Valea Sălciei stream, at an altitude of 128 m.
In 1811, the mineral waters here began to be used for treatment, Buziaș was officially declared a spa resort in 1819, when 5 springs were exploited.
The variety of mineral waters - carbonated, bicarbonated, chlorinated, sodium, calcium, magnesium, bromoiodate, ferruginous, atermal and hypotonic - represents one of the natural therapeutic factors of the resort.
Water sources are located in Buziaş Park, with a mineralization level of 5000-6000 mg/l, carbon dioxide concentration of 2000-2600 mg/l and pH of 6.5.
They are used both in the external cure (CO2 baths) and in the internal treatment.
One of the attractions of Buziaș is the Dendrological Park, which occupies an area of 20 hectares, where rare species of trees are encountered, the most widespread being the Platanus.
The park hosts the first carbonated mineral water strand in Europe and the Wooden Colonnade, unique on the continent, in terms of length and architectural style.
The Buziaș Colonnade, built in 1875 at the command of Emperor Franz Joseph, does not cease to amaze visitors by the elegance and fineness of woodworks specific to the Byzantine architectural style, being the most suitable place for a romantic promenade.
”Buziaş Airport” is the strong point of attraction for all those who pass through the resort.
Located just 50 meters from the Main Street, behind Silvana Hotel, the ”Buziaș Airport" offers you various menu at attractive prices as well as many sorts of pizza.
The on-site bar serves refreshments, fresh, cocktails, ice cream, cappuccino and coffee, plus a full range of alcoholic beverages.
For those who do not know, it must be said that the restaurant is arranged on a Russian plane of the Lisunov type, brought to Banat in 1978, in flight, in perfect working order.
Băile Călacea is another spa resort in Timiș County, located only 25 km from Timișoara, at an altitude of 117 m.
The thermal waters in Călacea have a temperature of 38-40° and are recommended for diseases of the locomotor system, the peripheral nervous system, for degenerative rheumatic diseases, as well as for gastritis or hepato-biliary diseases.
