“Timiș is discovered through stories, flavours and people. In Timiș, you are a guest, not a spectator.”
Beer brewing in Timiș County has deep roots, closely tied to the historical and multicultural development of Banat. As early as 1718, with the founding of the Timișoreana Brewery in Timișoara, the region became a major reference point for beer production in Romania. This industrial heritage helped shape a local beer culture that has been passed down and adapted over generations.
Today, Timiș County brings together this historic legacy and a vibrant modern craft beer scene. Alongside the historic brewery, local microbreweries have revived small-batch production, original recipes, and a wide diversity of beer styles. The result is an authentic experience where tradition and innovation naturally coexist.

In Banat, the household spirit runs deep: people make use of what they grow, gather or harvest, turning it into something to store, to share and to place on the table. This way of living can be tasted throughout Timiș County, beyond wine and beer, in a variety of local drinks shaped by the land and the care of local producers.
Cold-pressed aronia juice from Aronia Charlottenburg and craft cider from Casa Despi reflect a careful, small-scale approach to agriculture, focused on quality and patience. The same attention to detail can be found in syrups and preserves made from flowers, fruits and wild plants—rose, linden and elderflower, as well as raspberry, strawberry, blueberry or blackberry. At Familia Grecu, in the village of Curtea, fragrant syrups are complemented by rose petal jams and other handcrafted products, all prepared by the family in small batches, using traditional home-style recipes. In Jurești village, Casa cu Flori offers seasonal syrups and jams, made in small batches from what each season brings. Local apple juice pressed from nearby orchards—without unnecessary additives—can also be found at farmers’ markets or directly from producers.
Traditional fruit brandies remain part of everyday life in the region. Rather than being tied to a single label or place, they are best discovered through local markets, family households or harvest festivals, where producers share what they have made over the year—slowly, carefully, and with long-standing know-how.
